Nick De Anda

Nick De Anda is an accomplished guitarist and technician born and raised in Garden Grove, CA. He has over two decades of experience performing music of all styles and nearly a decade teaching the fundamentals of guitar playing. His journey in learning more about the instrument led him to gain wisdom from some of the most prominent guitarists in the world today.

Nick holds a Bachelor’s of Music from Cal State Polytechnic University Humboldt, studying under Dr. Jennifer Trowbridge and founding Mariachi de Humboldt; a for-credit ensemble still performing today. His time performing in jazz orchestras and classical guitar quartets prepared him for his first international performances at the Granada Guitar Festival in Spain during his studies abroad.

Following his departure from the redwoods, Nick would be one of 12 selected internationally to obtain a master’s degree in classical guitar performance at the University of Alicante in southern Spain. Here, he would perform at historic venues and masterclasses for guitarists like David Russell, Sergio Assad, Pepe Romero, and Manuel Barrueco.

Entering his professional career, he would record electric guitar parts for artists like Bobbye Hall (of Stevie Wonder) and Al McKay (of Earth, Wind, and Fire) before making his on-screen debut on the the fifth seasons of Hacks on HBO and Abbott Elementary on ABC. Currently, you can find him volunteering his time teaching with Guitars for Vets, a nonprofit organization providing free guitars and lessons to veterans suffering with PTSD across the US.

Drawing on extensive experience in university-level instruction, Nick excels at breaking down musical concepts into clear, engaging steps tailored for developing players. His teaching focuses on effective practice habits, ergonomics, and musical confidence through a patient and encouraging approach. His hunger for knowledge matches his desire to share the wisdom he has traveled far to seek, and in doing so, he hopes to instill the same devotion for self improvement on the guitar and beyond to every student he encounters.
