Just in from Beard Guitars in Hagerstown, Maryland, check out this DecoPhonic Highball! This is a slope shouldered dread with a punchy and yet warm tone, super easy playability and great feel. It has a solid Englemann spruce soundboard and, uniquely, a laminated Finnish Birch body. This wood was chosen for its sonic qualities, and is also used famously in Beard's well known and well loved resonator guitars. Beard's bracing system is unique. Here is how they describe it:
The Aero-X bracing is a proprietary bracing that combines aircraft lightening techniques with rigid mahogany. The braces weigh the same as spruce, but have a smaller, stiffer footprint. This noticeably impacts the volume and projection of the guitar, as well as the responsiveness and touch sensitivity of the strings.
This is what they say about the Highball:
The Deco Phonic Highball acoustic guitar is a uniquely resonant and rich instrument. Revered for its amazing folk and Americana voicing, this slope-shouldered dreadnought has a more comfortable body depth that is perfect for any player looking for a knock-out instrument with a more ergonomic profile.
